i like vicodin

Last week I had surgery on my mouth.  I was hoping to just walk it off (or talk it off) the next day, but I'm a pansy and apparently it takes longer than 24 hours to heal from a knife to the gums.  The great news is that I got to lay on the couch, drink milkshakes and take vicodin for 3 days straight...and of course I got to be pampered - err...I mean taken care of by my wonderful wife.  And yes, I know I'm spoiled. 

Since a video or a picture of me during the week on drugs is not the most appealing image, I thought it more appropriate to show a short clip of Anna right after the surgery.

Anna's first swimming lesson












There was a little heater mishap which resulted in the pool becoming a giant bathtub at 96 degrees...so we took advantage of the situation and gave Anna her first swimming lesson. She absolutely loved it! She gets a lilltle bit cuter everyday:) I love being a mama.

My little sis is growing up





Just as I thought...it is June and this is only my second blog...

Anna took her first trip this last weekend to celebrate Em's graduation. She got spoiled by everyone, pretty sure she was held 90% of the trip. She is starting to smile more and make really cute noises. It is so fun to watch her discover new things everyday...she has found her hands and frequently whacks herself in the face with them or tries to fit her entire fist in her mouth- she is just so stinkin' cute:) She also discovered herself in the mirror while spending time with Oma, she also seemed quite amazed at how cute she was and couldn't stop staring. It was so good to be with family, celebrate my wonderful sister, and of course play a crazy game of mexican tail dominoes:)

God is good

I am not an elegant writer. In fact I quite dislike writing and it has taken me over a week to finally sit down and write something on this blog. However, my life has been so full of blessings this past year and a half that I wanted to share them with the people that mean the most to me.

A verse from Ephesians was read at our wedding and God has been reminding me of it ever since. We often try to plan our lives and think that we know best but I have learned (and am still learning) that God usually has something better up his sleeve.

He has given me so much more than I could ask or imagine...

A husband whom I love more everyday, who makes me weak in knees when he kisses me, and always points me to Jesus

A daughter who is beautiful, healthy, and takes my breath away when I remember that she is mine

A job that challenges me and makes me feel like I am fulfilling God's purpose for my life

A job for David that combines his passions for missions and business

A home for us to live in that provides well more that just a roof over our heads

A community that challenges us to love Jesus and share him generously and always

I pray that I never forget everything He has done for me and be anxious to see what comes next.


I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray you you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
